Environmentally friendly roofing has long been available, but because of climate change, and the
ubiquitous “scary global warming” ads we see running on TV and radio, it is becoming a major part of
the roofing industry. Because so much square footage of our cities’ surface area is covered by roofs,
the use of “green” roofing products that help reduce the “Heat Island Effects” of big cities has proliferated.
These products include reflective surfaces such as white coatings and membranes, garden roof tops
(literally – gardens on roofs), and roofing materials with solar panels adhered to their surface.
Increasing insulation above the roof is also very common.
We will be adding to this section frequently, keeping you, the consumer, apprised of ways you can
increase your building’s energy efficiency through the use of Green roofing products.
